Its disconcerting to come to know someone who lives that way, in the "just me and Jesus" way. They can be sincere, and it can be endearing at times, but Its dangerous too. Many times they are easily blinded by their own faith, losing the sense of sacredness and beauty about the external world and especially about other people. Its like living in a vacuum: there is me and there is Jesus, and everything finite in between is skipped over. But when you try to show one of these people this, they feel they are being rejected or something, and they "suffer" that gladly for Jesus. Its a false reality and an extremist way of living the faith, because everything just relies on words and their respective sentiments.

Anna, you can help improve your mother's understanding of God's love by telling her that "in this physical world, SHE is God's instrument for loving Anna". Who is it that you should thank for your mother's love? And who should she thank for your love ? In this sense, ALL love comes from/thru God. It is He who gives us this ability to love. Your mom is probably right in assuming that God loves you more, because none of us can possibly love as perfectly as God can. But we can try !

Something I don't understand (something my mom tells me all of the time), I love you, but God loves you more.

How can she be okay with that?

Thanks for the post. I can't quote you chapter and verse (being a cradle catholic and all...LOL) but there is a famous John 3:16 that we see a lot of. The sentence that follows is equally compelling and speaks to your post. "Let us love one another not in word or speech, but in deed and truth" [sic]
Loving Jesus requires action. It is not enough to say "I love," we must LIVE "I love."
