O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Christmas is almost here! This is one of my favorite Advent songs. Here are a few wonderful versions of it from Casting Crowns, Enya, Momon Tabernacle Choir, an a cappella version and a traditional version (something for everybody):

A link to “O come, O come Emmanuael” without an explaination of its origins? ! Each verse is based on one of the ancient “O Antiphons” from vespers – still used to this day during the novena leading to Christmas. Here’s an interesting article I found: http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/religion/re0374.html
