Post image for Cool: A journey through our universe

Go on a fantastic ride through our universe. This little video puts our little home here in perspective (and to-scale). I really enjoyed it.

Watching it reminded me of how small we are, but also of how special we are. Life is such a gift. It’s so easy to take our existence for granted.

Post image for Catholic New Media Awards should team up with CNMC

I was writing my weekly post on Catholics in New Media on the Register this morning and had an idea.

Today I highlighted the Catholic New Media Awards (formerly the Catholic Blog Awards). And they are in the process of receiving feedback for the 2010 awards. So I was thinking of ideas…

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a Catholic New Media Awards ceremony at the CNMC  every year? I’m probably not the first person to think of this. But that would be so much fun. And what a perfect partnership.

We could have speeches and trophies (maybe a little Archangel Gabriel with an iPod or something) and whatever else people do at those things. Just sounds like fun. And it would help promote both events that much more. More press. More participation. More promotion of Catholic new media. More good stuff.

What do you guys think?

Highlighting Catholics in New Media

Thumbnail image for Highlighting Catholics in New Media

After some discernment, my blog over at the National Catholic Register is going to be primarily about New Media now. Which I am very excited about.
Today I highlighted SQPN and I plan to do the same with other Catholic new media in the future. In fact, I am planning on showcasing and helping promote something [...]

Quote: How is your desire for ‘virtual connectedness’ these days?

Thumbnail image for Quote: How is your desire for ‘virtual connectedness’ these days?

“If the desire for virtual connectedness becomes obsessive, it may in fact function to isolate individuals from real social interaction while also disrupting the patterns of rest, silence and reflection that are necessary for healthy human development.” – Pope Benedict XVI (Message for 43rd World Communications Day)
Profoundly insightful on two fronts:

Want a link back to your site from Fallible Blogma?

Reading the Stars is totally Christian! Thank you, NASA

Thumbnail image for Reading the Stars is totally Christian! Thank you, NASA

Yes, reading stars can be a totally Christian thing to do.  It just depends on how you’re reading them.
Of course, if you are using them to try and predict the future in some weird astrological and horoscopical (is that a word?  No…no it’s not) type of way then, yes, that contradicts a sound Christian faith.  [...]

Is Social Media technology helping or hurting real-world relationships?

Thumbnail image for Is Social Media technology helping or hurting real-world relationships?

There is no doubt social media has fundamentally changed how the world communicates and interacts with one another. Some welcome it as a gift from God to more effectively communicate. Others are more cautious. Still others are doing everything to resist it.
But one thing is for seemingly certain: It’s here to stay. [...]

Preaching Holy Apostolic Truth:  That’s what the “PHAT” in phatmass stands for.  And if you’ve never checked out phatmass.com, you should head on over there for a visit.  They currently even have Fallible Blogma as their “Pheatured Pheed” – which is pretty sweet and an honor.
Among countless other faithfully Catholic things, on phatmass.com you’ll find [...]

When does science say Human Life begins?

Thumbnail image for When does science say Human Life begins?

Pro-lifers are often criticized for their position that human life begins at conception. Many incorrectly think that this belief is based on some blind religious dogma, a scripture passage somewhere, or some stubborn need to tell women what to do with their bodies. All the while, this same opposition likes to pretend that [...]

By the Light of the Moon

Thumbnail image for By the Light of the Moon

We can all agree that we want progress.  The question is which way to progress?  In an increasingly complex climate of colliding cultures, defining progress is far too much like defining which way is up while floating in outer space.  The big difference being that the latter is entirely relative and the former only seems [...]
