Post image for Catholic New Media Awards should team up with CNMC

I was writing my weekly post on Catholics in New Media on the Register this morning and had an idea.

Today I highlighted the Catholic New Media Awards (formerly the Catholic Blog Awards). And they are in the process of receiving feedback for the 2010 awards. So I was thinking of ideas…

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a Catholic New Media Awards ceremony at the CNMC  every year? I’m probably not the first person to think of this. But that would be so much fun. And what a perfect partnership.

We could have speeches and trophies (maybe a little Archangel Gabriel with an iPod or something) and whatever else people do at those things. Just sounds like fun. And it would help promote both events that much more. More press. More participation. More promotion of Catholic new media. More good stuff.

What do you guys think?

Post image for Highlighting Catholics in New Media

After some discernment, my blog over at the National Catholic Register is going to be primarily about New Media now. Which I am very excited about.

Today I highlighted SQPN and I plan to do the same with other Catholic new media in the future. In fact, I am planning on showcasing and helping promote something else in Catholic new media every Friday on the Register. So let me know when you hear about something new out there worth giving some attention to and helping to promote.

Here’s my rough idea so far for this new media effort on my National Catholic Register blog. Would love your feedback: [Keep Reading]

Dare to make this a radical Lent

A friend of mine (Yong Oh of Shepherd’s Cafe) shared this wonderful Lenten letter from Fr. Agustino, CFR and I wanted to share it here.
Ash Wednesday 2010
Peace and blessings.
I pray that all are well. Please forgive the timing of the email, but I can’t help but feel the Lord putting something on my heart to [...]

The Mount Vernon Statement

I like this:
The conservatism of the Declaration asserts self-evident truths based on the laws of nature and nature’s God. It defends life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It traces authority to the consent of the governed. It recognizes man’s self-interest but also his capacity for virtue.

A Constitutional conservatism unites all conservatives through the natural [...]

Scandal and Betrayal at the USCCB?

Washington, DC, February 2, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A national group that promotes abortion and homosexual rights has deep ties with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, according to a report released Monday.
I’m still digesting this story. I hope there are some better explanations for [...]

L’Angelus and the CFRs at the March for Life 2010

Thumbnail image for L’Angelus and the CFRs at the March for Life 2010

I wasn’t able to attend the March for Life in DC this year. I was able to attend the March here in Dallas though – which was great. We posted some pictures and videos we put together from it here.
Two of my favorite groups of people, however, did get to attend the March [...]

Pictures and Video from March For Life Dallas 2010

We marched in the Dallas March for Life today.  It was a beautiful, but somber, Texas day and thousands were in attendance.
These marches are absolutely vital to bringing about real change, a real Culture of Life, and in helping us to fully face the reality of this great injustice.  Please get involved in one near [...]

Using Facebook, Twitter and the future of Fallible Blogma

Happy new year, everyone! I want to announce a few changes to how I’ll be using FallibleBlogma.com, Facebook and Twitter this new year. I’ve been a bit busy this last week sorting some of this out, which is why it’s been so quiet.
First, I think I will be posting less “Blogma” to my [...]

The 10 Most Fascinating Catholics of 2009

Thumbnail image for The 10 Most Fascinating Catholics of 2009

Lisa Hendey had a really neat idea this year with a Catholic spin-off of Barabara Walter’s 10 Most fascinating people of the year.  Her top 10 list has some really amazing (and fascinating) Catholics on it.
I was very surprised and humbled to find that I made the list as well!  It is a huge honor!  [...]

All is still calm

Here is my post from last year on Christmas. Just about everything in it applies the same to today. Not much has changed in a year. In a lot of ways, not much has changed in 2000 years either.
It has some good quotes to reflect on during the Christmas season.  And don’t [...]

Annoyed when people say “Xmas” instead of Christmas? Should you be?

Thumbnail image for Annoyed when people say “Xmas” instead of Christmas? Should you be?

Have you ever heard about the plot to “X” Christ out of Christmas?  And so the secular celebraters of this holy-day (holiday) decided they were going to start using “Xmas” instead of Christmas?
Well, it’s not true.
We do have lots of people who celebrate Christmas without the “Christ” part.  We also have lots of people who [...]

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Christmas is almost here! This is one of my favorite Advent songs. Here are a few wonderful versions of it from Casting Crowns, Enya, Momon Tabernacle Choir, an a cappella version and a traditional version (something for everybody):

“If the desire for virtual connectedness becomes obsessive, it may in fact function to isolate individuals from real social interaction while also disrupting the patterns of rest, silence and reflection that are necessary for healthy human development.” – Pope Benedict XVI (Message for 43rd World Communications Day)

What’s with the pink candle during Advent?

Thumbnail image for What’s with the pink candle during Advent?

The usual liturgical color for Advent is purple (similar to Lent) to remind us that this is a penitential season.  It is particularly an appropriate time for special prayers and fasting to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ into the world at Christmas.
And it’s not solely a remembrance or anniversary of when Christ was [...]
